If it's too good to be true...

Bijgewerkt op: 25 dec 2024

Sano Babu Sunuwar is my pilot during the paraglide I am about to do here in Pokhara, Nepal. During take off I ask if he has a family.

For me this is a check question just te reassure muself that he also has a reason for a safe landing. After the safety check we run together off the mountain until the wind catches the paraglide and I do not feel any ground underneath my feet. We are airborne! Adrenaline pumps through my body, my God, this is so cool! Once on a higher altitude, I notice that I relax a little bit and really can enjoy the gorgeous view.

I ask Sano his best paraglide experience.

He smiles and tells me that once he reached the top of Mount Everest and he flew down with his paraglide, to paddle with a kayak after that to open sea. If a story is too good to be true, it often is too good to be true! So, obviously I do not believe his story, but I like his creativity! For a while we enjoy the beauty of the Himalaya and start the descent.

Once landed however, people come to us and soon I see that thos people are here for Sano to take a picture of him. Ok, this is so embarassing, as I realise he did tell the truth. I sees my face and says ā€œDon’t always believe what people say, but sometimes they tell the truth. Now you check me out on National Geographic.ā€œ
